Adam holds a BA, LLB and LLM from the University of Cape Town. His masters' thesis focused on the section 164 appraisal remedy, a topic about which he has written extensively.
He is a member of the Legal Practice Council of South Africa, having been admitted to the side-bar in 2008.
Adam specialises in corporate transactions and corporate and commercial litigation, with a focus on complex contractual disputes, statutory remedies, as well as affected and fundamental transactions. He has appeared before the Takeover Special Committee.
He is a leading practitioner in appraisal litigation, having represented fund managers, institutional asset managers and private shareholders in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Western Cape High Court with success.
A growing area of Adam's practice is bullying in secondary and tertiary educational institutions, professional environments and the associated abuse and misuse of regulatory and internal complaint and reporting mechanisms to harm professionals and academics.
He has acted in various delictual and contractual disputes in litigation and arbitration proceedings. He has expertise in assisting with supply chain management and logistics disputes, shareholder disputes, property and body corporate disputes as well as insurance and infrastructure development disputes.
He has acted for a range of clients including scientists, academics, municipal entities, property developers, infrastructure developers, asset and fund managers, shareholder activists, forensic investigators and family offices.
